A Delightful Dinner

Mission:
Mission 1: Through the Janus Gate
Location: Resolute Deck 3 Main Lounge/Deck 6 Arboretum
Timeline: MD002 - 1800 Hours
Ensign Zen arrived a little before 1800 thinking they could walk in together, select their dinners, and find a nice place to sit. Waiting patiently she could sense Zen [This should be fun and it’s nice seeing you putting yourself out there for a change.] Grinning she replied to herself “I hope so and it’s been awhile since I have been even remotely interested in a man after what I went through on our last assignment.” [Oh ya…that. I guess I kind of forgot about that creep and what he did to you and how it affected you afterwards] Zen replied. “Well I certainly haven’t forgotten…..I guess that’s why I’ve been so cautious when it comes to men in general.”
Lieutenant Lorek secured his quarters and left for the Main Lounge which was on the same deck so it was a quick walk to his destination. Arriving right on time he noticed Sasha waiting outside the lounge for him “Hello Ensign; long time no see” he stated with a grin.
“Lieutenant right on time, I like that in an officer” Sasha responded with a smile sensing Zen [Oh brother can you get any more corny] as she just ignored her symbiont.
“Thank you, I do like to be on time for appointments” he replied “Shall we go and see what nourishment we can find.”
“Sounds good to me besides I’m famished” Sasha answered as the two officers entered the lounge. Selecting their meals and beverage she looked around the area then found a table for two by a viewport. Leading the way they both sat; Lorek was wondering if he should pull her chair out for her but thought better of it since they really didn’t know one another all that well yet.
As they started to enjoy their meals Sasha spoke up “Thank you Lorek for agreeing to have dinner with me…..I do get tired of eating alone” she stated with a smile.
“You are welcome” then Lorek paused a moment “Truthfully I do enjoy the company of a beautiful woman and was looking forward to seeing you again” he replied wanting to be truthful hoping he wasn’t scaring her off.
“Since we are being truthful with one another, the other reason I asked you to have dinner with me was I thought it would be nice to get to know you better as well” she responded then paused looking at Lorek “You think I’m beautiful?” as she sensed Zen [It’s about time].
“Indeed I do….I find you quite attractive” he replied with a smile.
“Thank you for such a nice compliment. Some men find my Trill markings to be….how should I phrase this…..off putting.
Taking a sip of his beverage he then set his fork on his plate looking into her gorgeous blue eyes “I find your markings to be captivating……they are a part of who you are and your heritage.”
Hearing all his comments Sasha sat back in her chair just looking at Lorek for a few minutes still not quite sure about this Vulcan just yet.
“Sasha did I say something to offend you…..you seem very quiet suddenly” he inquired hoping he hadn’t just messed things up.
“No you didn’t offend me, I’m just trying to figure out if you’re for real or not….or is being so nice just an act” she inquired being somewhat blunt in her approach.
“No not an act…..I am not versed in acting. What you see and how I am is what you get…..just Lorek” he responded wondering where her inquiry was coming from.
Thinking for a brief moment she could sense Zen [Don’t you mess this up…..he seems like a really nice guy.] “I apologize for being so blunt but my last dealings with a guy didn’t end well so I’m overly cautious I guess” she replied.
“That is understandable but like I stated this is just who I am and how I am” he answered feeling a little better after her explanation.
Wanting to change the subject at least for a few minutes “Not to discuss work but I am hearing rumblings concerning our impending mission; things like it may not be safe” Sasha commented with some concern.
“I certainly do not want to add anymore rumblings, as you put it, but I can tell you this…..the mission may end up being a little tricky but I am sure it’s nothing that this ship and crew can not navigate” Lorek responded trying to make Sasha feel more at ease.
They were about half way through their dinner when a few minutes of awkward silence prevailed. There was an air of questions wanting to asked but not the courage or assurance to do so.
Finally Sasha broke the silence "Lorek I was wondering if you.....that is to say you and I.....oh to hell with it.....would you be interested in going on a proper date together some evening" she inquired after tripping over her words a few times.
Lorek smiled "Yes I would be very interested in going on a proper date with you.....I am sure I would find the date most pleasing" he responded "Did you have anything in particular in mind?"
"That depends....do you like to dance" Sasha inquired with a smirk before taking a sip of her beverage.
"I've been known 'to get down' from time to time so I guess that would be a yes to dancing" he responded with a grin.
"Good. Maybe I can reserve a couple of hours on one of the holodecks.....I have a fun night club program I brought with me from my last assignment" she explained.
"Sounds interesting; just let be know where and when" he replied with a grin. The two officers finished their dinners at a leisurely pace before he inquired "So would you like me to escort you back to your quarters" came the inquiry.
"Yes I'd like that but first I'd like to see the Arboretum on deck 6 if you wouldn't mind" Sasha asked hoping to spend a little more time with Lorek.
"Sure, I wouldn't mind seeing that myself" he answered as the two officers attended to their dishes at the reclaimer. Walking along they talked until they reached their destination.
Walking in there was low lighting with trees, bushes, and blooming flowers everywhere. A path meandered through it all with the sounds of a creek making a pleasant sound as they walked along.
"This place is lovely and so peaceful almost makes you think you're not even on a starship" Sasha commented with a smile as she walked very close to Lorek.
"Yes this place is very pleasant and almost as lovely as you are Sasha" he commented very much enjoying being in this place with her.
Stopping she looked at Lorek "You are really a very sweet guy so thank you for the nice compliment" as she paused "You're not so bad yourself" she replied finally letting her feelings show as she sensed Zen [Finally!]
They walked along talking for the next hour before departing for her quarters. Once they arrived Lorek was contemplating giving Sasha a good night kiss but didn't want to rush things.
"Thank you for a delightful dinner and for the very nice walk through the Arboretum" she commented with a sincere smile.
"You're welcome it was my distinct pleasure" he responded "Let me know about the holodeck date and have a pleasant rest of your evening."
"Yes I'll let you know about the holodeck and thank you" she replied then leaned in and gave Lorek a kiss on the cheek before entering her quarters.
