| Personal History | Lorek was born in 2361 in a small town on Vulcan. Borak served as a Vulcan diplomat and was frequently away on diplomatic missions. After each mission he would return home and eventually returned with a bride. Sara Neville remained at home due to the frequent absence of her husband. She was once a Federation diplomat and met two other male diplomats who would change her life forever. The first was a Vulcan male named Borak. They were initially introduced at a conference on Earth; her home planet. Two years later they would marry and she would relocate to Vulcan to be with her husband. One year later Lorek was born into the family and two years after that event Sara would give birth to another child, a girl, named Camiel after Borak’s mother. By the age of ten Lorek was struggling with his heritage trying to find a balance between his Vulcan and Human sides as each were conflicting with the other. Being bullied in school with name calling and physical altercations made his struggle even more difficult. His mother recognized his plight and enrolled him in a class taught by a good friend who was once a great Klingon Warrior as well as a diplomat. T’Sher House of Duson was a warrior in his early years. As age took it’s toll he turned to diplomacy as a way of life. His charismatic presence served him well until factions in his own house conspired against him. Being shunned by his house, T’Sher left in disgrace and ended up on Vulcan thanks to his connection to Sara. Being asked to help and mentor her son was a small way of paying back her kindness. Lorek struggled in first few months in this type of environment but finally surrendered to its purpose. T’Sher saw greatness in this young boy and mentored him while teaching him of honor, respect, and purpose. His discipline came through grueling physical training in Klingon’s version of martial arts as well as the use of edged weapons and close combat tactics. Lorek came to admire his mentor and friend in a way few could understand. At the age of thirteen Lorek experience a loss like he had never felt before. In the absence of a father figure most of the time, his grandfather Sorek filled the gap. He would counsel Lorek with understanding and patience while spending time with him doing activities like teaching him all about fishing. When Sorek passed it left a void in Lorek’s heart loosing a father figure. To honor his memory he secretly had a mermaid tattoo placed on his forearm which could be covered and remain out of sight to those around him. Lorek continued training with his Klingon friend and mentor through his teen years until be became a great warrior himself. At the end of his training T’Sher presented him with his own perfectly balanced Bat’leth which he would cherish into his early adult years. T’Sher’s parting words would echo well into his future “Lorek you are a very unique individual and warrior possessing the best of both Vulcan and Human worlds. Use what you have learned wisely and be the person you were destined to be.” At eighteen years of age Lorek knew exactly what he wanted to do…..join Starfleet. Informing his parents his Father wasn’t very pleased he decided to forego admission to the Vulcan Science Academy for another path. His Mother, however, was very pleased and encouraged him to follow his own path in life. Lorek applied and was accepted to Starfleet Academy in 2379 studying in a Tactical/Security discipline: Entering the Academy was a little daunting at first but Lorek leaned into his training keeping a balance between being Vulcan and Human. He relaxed and made friends quickly while concentrating on his studies. Sitting with some friends they laughed and swapped stories of their childhoods. A few nearby Vulcans watched in disgust. One day three of them approached Lorek “ You shame the Vulcan ways….we need to teach you a lesson in manners.” The three attempted a physical altercation but were quickly overwhelmed due to Lorek’s Klingon training. As the trio were laying on the ground in pain they were given this admonishment “And you need to learn respect and honor.” Lorek would not be bothered by this sort of behavior again while at the Academy. The four years passed by quickly with Lorek graduating with honors and given the rank of Ensign. 2383-2388: Lorek was assigned to the Hermes as a Tactical/Security Officer. The first few months were somewhat daunting being his first time on a starship but his training and hard work would serve him well. His superiors were very pleased with his work and dedication to his duties. 2388-2394: Lorek’s hard work paid off and was reassigned to the Vincent as an Ensign. After another year of hard work he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. During this time he would start paying closer attention to details often discovering things that his counterparts would miss while allowing his human side to show through more. 2394-2397: The Dakota was his next assignment where he was promoted to AT/S Officer due to his hard work and attention to details. He would keep the same rank. 2397-2401: Lorek was informed of a Chief’s position that had opened up and was encouraged by his superiors to apply for it. To his surprise he secured Chief of Tactical/Security aboard the Endeavor with the rank of full Lieutenant. Taking the promotion very seriously Lorek assumed the role of a leader leaning into his charismatic ways tempered with both parts of his heritage. 2401-Present: An opportunity presented itself for the same position aboard the USS Resolute. Being a somewhat seasoned Chief now Lorek decided to apply for the position. Being accepted into a somewhat different environment gave him the opportunity to show his uniqueness as a hybrid being both logical while being approachable by those who served under his guidance. |
