Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Thava is controlled, direct and quietly protective. She is not loud, theatrical or eager to prove herself, which makes her more noticeable in a crisis rather than less. She has the kind of calm that settles into a room like a locked door: reassuring if you are supposed to be there, less comfortable if you are not. She tends to observe before speaking, and when she does speak, it is usually because there is a practical point to be made. She dislikes wasted motion, sloppy procedure and people who mistake confidence for competence. Despite that, she is not cold. Under the dry humour and firm manner, Thava is deeply loyal to the people she serves with. She notices when junior officers are overwhelmed, when civilians are frightened, and when someone is trying very hard not to look wounded. As both a security and tactical officer, she is comfortable shifting between the personal and the strategic. She can secure a corridor, manage a brig detail or stand at tactical during an engagement without changing much in manner. The scale of the threat changes; Thava’s voice does not. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Thava’s greatest strength is her composure. She does not rattle easily, whether she is facing a hostile boarding party, a failing forcefield or a bridge tactical display full of bad news. She has a strong instinct for containment and is particularly good at keeping small problems from becoming large ones. In security work, this makes her effective at de-escalation, prisoner handling and scene control. In tactical work, it makes her measured rather than trigger-happy, able to assess shield integrity, firing arcs and threat behaviour without letting adrenaline do the thinking for her. She is also good with junior personnel, though she would never describe herself that way. Her style is not warm in the traditional sense, but she gives frightened or inexperienced officers clear tasks, firm expectations and the sense that someone competent is keeping track of the room. She has a strong memory for ship layouts, access routes, weapons locker inventories and security blind spots, which makes her useful whenever the ship itself becomes part of the problem. Weaknesses Thava can be blunt to the point of abrasion, especially with officers who expect difficult truths to arrive gift-wrapped. She has little patience for performative authority and may occasionally push the edge of what is polite when she believes someone is making a poor tactical or security decision. She follows the chain of command, but she does not confuse obedience with silence. She is also slow to trust people who are too charming, too smooth or too eager to be helpful. Once she decides someone is careless, manipulative or unreliable, it takes time and consistent behaviour to change her mind. Her own stress tends to emerge as sharper humour, shorter answers and antennae that twitch like offended punctuation. Rather than admit she is tired or affected, she usually tries to work through it until someone forces her to stop. |

| Hobbies & Interests | Off duty, Thava enjoys weapons maintenance in the way some people enjoy meditation. She finds the routine calming: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, reassembly, testing. It gives her hands something precise to do and her mind a quiet place to settle. She also practises Andorian ice-knife forms in the holodeck, though she treats them more as discipline and heritage than sport. She has a private fondness for tactical puzzles, old battle simulations and historical siege studies, particularly ones where the winning side had fewer resources and better positioning. She is not especially social in large gatherings, but she does enjoy small, dry conversations over strong tea or something cold enough to offend most Human throats. She has also developed an unexpected interest in shipboard botany, mostly because she once helped break up a fight in hydroponics and stayed to ask why one of the plants was glowing. She now claims this interest is “environmental awareness”, which fools absolutely no one. |
| Personal History | Thava zh’Reth was born on Andoria into a family with a long tradition of service, though not all of it was Starfleet. Several relatives served in Andorian defence forces, colonial security and emergency response roles, giving Thava a practical view of duty from an early age. Protection, to her, was never an abstract ideal. It meant cold stations, bad hours, difficult decisions and making sure other people got home when things went wrong. She entered Starfleet Academy with a focus on security operations before expanding into tactical systems and starship combat response. She was never the flashiest cadet, but she was consistent, observant and difficult to surprise. Her instructors noted that she had a talent for recognising threat patterns quickly, particularly in enclosed environments and during simulated boarding actions. After graduation, Thava was assigned to the USS T’Kumbra, where she served as a junior security officer on patrol and border support duties. The posting exposed her to escort work, civilian evacuations, smuggling interdiction and the messy middle ground between diplomacy and armed response. It also pushed her toward tactical training, as smaller ships often required officers to cover more than one lane when things became complicated. In 2396, she transferred to the USS Resolute as a Security/Tactical Officer. Over time, she became a reliable presence aboard the ship: not senior enough to dominate the department, but experienced enough to be trusted with patrol teams, tactical watch rotations, brig oversight and emergency response coordination. By the time the Resolute was pulled into the Badlands and discovered Avalon Station, Thava had already come to think of the ship as home. |
