| Physical Description | Harry Kim has aged into a lean, composed man with the same dark eyes and black hair, now worn neater and touched lightly at the temples. His face has lost the softness of the young ensign who first left the Alpha Quadrant, carrying the quieter lines of stress, command responsibility and too many years spent keeping Voyager hidden. He still has an approachable quality, but there is more steel beneath it now: calm posture, watchful expression, and the look of someone who has learned to solve disasters before anyone else notices the alarms. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Harry Kim is steady, thoughtful and quietly resilient, with a gentleness that survived far more than anyone had any right to expect. He is no longer the eager young officer trying to prove himself, but there is still warmth beneath the discipline, and still a stubborn belief that Starfleet means something even when the uniform has to stay hidden. Harry tends to lead through competence rather than force, earning trust by listening, solving problems and staying calm when others start looking for the exits. Years of loss have made him more guarded and cautious, especially where Voyager or the Lantern Network are concerned, but he has not become hard. If anything, his strength lies in the fact that the Dominion never managed to make him cruel. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Harry Kim’s greatest strength is his reliability under pressure. He has spent most of his adult life aboard Voyager, first surviving the Delta Quadrant and then helping keep the ship hidden in occupied space, and that has made him exceptionally good at staying calm when systems fail, plans collapse, or communications go dark. He has a sharp operational mind, strong technical instincts, and a gift for seeing how shipboard systems connect to the wider tactical picture. As Chief Operations Officer and Second Officer, he is trusted because he does not need to dominate a room to steady it. Harry listens, processes quickly, and offers solutions that are practical rather than theatrical. He is also deeply loyal, both to Janeway and to the crew, and still carries a stubborn belief in Starfleet ideals even after years of seeing those ideals dragged through Dominion mud. Harry can still carry too much responsibility alone, especially when it involves the safety of Voyager, his mother, or Lantern-linked contacts depending on his systems. He has learned confidence, but not arrogance, and there are moments when the old part of him still wonders whether he has done enough to earn the trust placed in him. Loss has made him more guarded than he used to be, and he can become quietly obsessive when trying to keep every channel secure and every contingency covered. Harry also struggles with the emotional cost of survival. He is not bitter, but he has never fully shaken the ache of returning home to find that home broken, occupied, and half-lost. At times, that makes him overcautious, particularly when a risk could expose Voyager or the people still trapped on Earth. |

| Hobbies & Interests | Harry has always found comfort in music, especially the clarinet, and that remains one of the few parts of his younger self he has refused to surrender. He plays less often now, and rarely for an audience, but music gives him a way to breathe when the ship feels too quiet or the weight of hidden warfare presses too close. He also enjoys engineering puzzles, old communication systems, and the kind of impossible technical problems most people would call a punishment detail. In quieter moments, he still gravitates toward games, conversation, and shared meals with the crew, though he is more subdued than he once was. Harry’s interests are not grand escapes from duty so much as small acts of preservation: music, friendship, memory, and the fragile routines that remind Voyager she is still a ship full of people, not just a ghost with a warp core. |
| Personal History | **Personal History** Harry Kim was born in 2349 to John and Mary Kim, the only child of a close, supportive family that placed great value on education, discipline and personal achievement. From an early age, Harry showed both musical ability and a strong aptitude for technical systems, eventually earning a place at Starfleet Academy. He entered Starfleet with a bright future ahead of him, full of ambition, nerves and the sincere belief that service meant helping build something better than yourself. In 2371, Harry received his first deep-space assignment as Operations Officer aboard the USS Voyager. The posting should have been the beginning of a conventional Starfleet career. Instead, Voyager was pulled into the Delta Quadrant, cutting Harry off from home, family and the life he had expected to return to. His years in the Delta Quadrant forced him to mature quickly. He survived hostile species, isolation, Borg encounters, temporal anomalies, loss, command pressure and the daily strain of keeping a stranded ship alive far beyond Federation support. By the time Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant in late 2378, Harry was no longer the uncertain young ensign who had first stepped aboard. The home he had imagined for seven years was gone. The Federation had surrendered, Earth was under Dominion occupation, Starfleet had been shattered, and the subspace channels that should have welcomed them home carried warnings, Dominion broadcasts and ghosts of old emergency traffic. For Harry, the return was not a rescue. It was a second exile. Harry remained aboard Voyager when Captain Janeway chose to keep the ship hidden rather than surrender it. His operational knowledge quickly became essential to the ship’s survival. Working with Tuvok, Seven of Nine, the Doctor and other senior officers, Harry helped adapt Voyager for covert operations in occupied space, including sensor masking, power discipline, secure communications and the careful use of Barclay’s Pathfinder-derived channels. His work allowed the ship to support the Lantern Network without revealing one of the last independent Starfleet vessels to the Dominion. The death of Commander Chakotay during a refugee extraction operation changed Harry deeply. Chakotay had been one of the officers who shaped him, challenged him and helped him understand that command was not about rank alone. After his death, Harry stepped further into senior responsibility, not as a replacement, but as someone who understood that Voyager could no longer afford officers who were waiting to become ready. His promotion to Chief Operations Officer and later Second Officer reflected years of trust earned quietly, one impossible day at a time. Harry’s personal losses remain closely guarded. He learned after Voyager’s return that his father had been killed during the Dominion occupation of Earth, while his mother survived somewhere under dangerous and heavily watched conditions. Contact with her has been rare, carefully routed and never guaranteed. His former life with Libby also became one of the many things the war quietly took from him. Harry does not speak of these losses often, but they live beneath his caution, his loyalty and his refusal to let Voyager become just another name on a list of missing ships. By 2398, Lieutenant Commander Harry Kim serves as Chief Operations Officer and Second Officer aboard the hidden USS Voyager. He is one of Janeway’s most trusted senior officers and a vital part of the ship’s covert support for the Lantern Network. The earnest young officer who once worried about proving himself has become calm, capable and quietly formidable. He still believes in Starfleet, but not as a flag, a government or a speech. To Harry, Starfleet is now a promise kept in the dark: a ship staying hidden so others can live, a signal sent through enemy space, a light left burning where the Dominion cannot quite reach it. |
