As a child she learned the difference between fear and obedience, and by the time she was old enough to fight, she had already decided which one she would refuse. She joined the Shakaar resistance cell while still young, becoming one of its most committed fighters. The Occupation taught her sabotage, weapons handling, infiltration, and the brutal arithmetic of guerrilla war, but it also left scars that never truly faded. Kira survived because she was sharp, stubborn, and willing to do what others hesitated to do. After Bajor’s liberation, that same fire made her difficult for peacetime authority to contain, though impossible to ignore. Following the withdrawal of Cardassian forces, Kira entered the Bajoran Militia and was assigned to Deep Space 9 as Bajoran liaison officer.
