Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Wyn appears somewhat distracted most of the time as he runs through things that need to get done constantly and finds it helpful to work through the steps of a job, even if he’s done it many times before, in advance. Though able to focus on a task, his department head on SB31 gave him his own favorite saying: “Take your time in a hurry.” Which has served him well, even if he himself gets lost in details more often than not. Quotes that he carries with him through his life: From his father, on work in general but about making models. "Attention to detail is important. Get the small things right and the bigger things will take care of themselves. Just stop sniffing the glue." From his mother: "So you're entering Star Fleet to be an Engineer? After all we've done for you? You hate me don't you. Just stab me and get it over with." From his sister after a head to head Rugby match with them on opposite teams, "Nice game, though now I'm going to call you Loser Pi. No Wyn today....Loser." (In jest. Sibilings...) Captain Jordan Bowie, former CO of DS4. Nice work on shutting down those looters. Not sure if you needed to use ALL of the explosives, but it worked..." |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | +Steady, thinks before he acts. +Detailed orientated. - Attention wanders at inopportune times unless it's work. -Loses track of time on a project, gets lost in the details if he doesn't pay attention. -Channels his mother occasionally, over-explaining concepts if he thinks the person needs help understanding. |

| Hobbies & Interests | Rugby Building models |
| Personal History | Wyn, as he goes by rather fiercely, was born at the New Montana colony on Alpha Centauri, when his parents were both active professors at the Cochrane Foundation for the Study of Multi-physics, his father Philippe, a quantitative analyst specializing in drive mechanics while his mother Penelope, specialized in theoretical mathematics. The two were exceptionally bright individuals who realized their parenting skills were not exactly in their wheel house. That meant they tried very hard, but it always felt a bit strained to Wyn and his younger sister Willamina For his part, Wyn was surrounded by models of nearly every Federation starship from an early age and took to building models himself. A success seen on the part of his father who sought out something at an early age to have in common with his son. Despite this win, as he grew older Wyn developed his own mind (despite his parents) and joined his sister in a possibly more than healthy interest in rugby. Though he had a keen enough mind, he found he enjoyed the competition and he and his sister often went literally head to head as they tested their athletic skills against one another. Willamina was a far better athlete however and by the time they began their third tier studies, Wyn had taken a more intramural interest. He did have a fairly good mind, but gravitated to more hands-on interests. At the age of eighteen, at the urging of his sister, applied to Starfleet Academy and no one in his family (save Willamina) was surprised when he was accepted. His mother, Penelope had a harder time accepting Wyn and Willamina’s headstrong natures and melted down when he announced he had been accepted to the Academy, regardless of his intended track of study and refused to speak to him for nearly three years. Wyn found he enjoyed the Engineering track and dug in his heels to prove his mother’s prediction that he would be just another cog in a river of cogs wrong. His father quietly encouraged him though and Wyn was able to make Winsome’s (his nickname for his sister, which she much preferred to her given name) application to the Academy easier. After graduation in 2386, Wyn worked his way through a successive number of postings aboard various starships and a five year posting aboard Starbase Thirty One while the station was undergoing a major refit. He was noticed in dispatches several times for his quick thinking and ability to troubleshoot on the fly. When his tour was over, he was assigned to the last Prometheus class to leave the yards, where he was instrumental in seeing the ship through her space trials and initial three year mission in the Beta and Gamma Quadrants. His appointment to Deep Space Four saw him as assistant chief engineer as the station was decommissioned and shut down in 2400, a bitter-sweet assignment. During the exit interview with his former boss, he was cited for good leadership skills and reacting under pressure. Looters showed up and there was a running fight to secure components and keep them from being liberated in which Wyn led a combined engineering/security team to blow weapons emplacements. Even with this praise, Wyn was surprised when his application for department head school was approved. He was even more surprised when assigned as Chief Engineer aboard the Sovereign Class, USS Resolute. |
